OUR STORY
I’ve always enjoyed art and creating at a young age. I spent much of my free time singing and dancing and eventually grew to love writing, acting, and drawing as a teen. However, growing up in Tanzania, it became quite clear the space my creativity could hold was limited, pigeonholed to just a hobby, and sometimes deemed as a distraction.
Fortunately for me, rebellion was my first language. I daydreamed about maybe one day becoming a famous pop star or a choreographer for Tanzanian artists. I decided I’d need a covert name that would make me undiscoverable to my parents.
‘Binti'—a word that simply means 'daughter' in Swahili—carried layers of unspoken limitations. It was a term that seemed to shrink rather than expand, to constrain rather than celebrate. But I saw something different. I saw potential. Each cultural expectation became a challenge. Each constraint, an invitation to rebel. I learned to carry my dreams in secret, to nurture them in the sacred spaces between tradition and innovation. Binti became my alter ego, my act of defiance—she who breaks silence, who challenges constraints, who dares to become fully herself. As a young adult, my mission is to bring her out and be proud of all the things I AM.
Inspired by my faith in Jesus and the biblical declaration "I Am," found in Exodus 3:14. I've embraced two powerful truths:
Our identities are not defined by systems, traditions, or external limitations, but by the unique purpose breathed into us by God. This podcast is an invitation—to women everywhere—to deconstruct the narratives that have held them back and reconstruct themselves authentically.
We were created to be images of a multifaceted God, “I Am,” and can therefore embrace and celebrate multiple dimensions of our being, something that was often challenged in the environment I grew up in. This podcast offers a space for women to reflect on their identity and embrace all dimensions its dimensions in fullness.
I Am Binti is more than a podcast—it's a movement of radical self-discovery and divine purpose. It is a declaration. A rebellion. A love letter to every woman finding her voice and place in this world.
Through intimate conversations, we'll explore the sacred journey of becoming. We're not just sharing stories; we're reclaiming language, challenging narratives, and manifesting the wildest, most audacious versions of ourselves.
With Love,
